In-Lieu of Services
Each member has the option to choose In-Lieu of Services (ILOS). ILOS means that these services are offered instead of inpatient care. Services include:
- Inpatient services for acute psychiatric conditions in an in Institution of Mental Disease (IMD) for up to 15 calendar days per month for members aged 21-64
- Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC)
- Partial Hospitalization Services (PHP)
- Intensive Outpatient Program Services (IOP)
In-Lieu of Services FAQ's
CSC is a service that supports people who are 15-30 years old and who have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder in the past two years. They support you by providing mental health services that are specific to your needs.
PHP and IOP are both structured day programs that provide behavioral health treatment for mental health issues and or substance use.
Yes, the number of days and hours spent in treatment are different. PHP treatment is more intense that IOP.
IOP and PHP are usually offered through a community behavioral health care facility who would have staff that will evaluate your needs and make sure that IOP and PHP is the right and needed service.
CSC is offered by your local behavioral or mental authority.
Yes, the IOP, PHP, and CSC provider will contact Cook Children’s Health Plan for approval.
No, In-Lieu of Services is an option that can be used and it is the member's choice to use the services or not.
